Installing AgentRidge

Installing AgentRidge happens in two stages: a small, fast application install, followed by a one-time runtime download the first time you open the app. This keeps the download you click small, while still giving you a powerful local engine.

Two stages

  1. Install the application. You download a small platform installer (a DMG on macOS, a setup executable on Windows, an AppImage or .deb on Linux) and install it like any other desktop app.
  2. First launch downloads the runtime. The first time you open AgentRidge, a guided setup provisions the local engine — the reasoning runtime and its supporting modules. This happens once and is reused for every mission afterward. See First launch.
Why the split?

The installer stays small because it does not embed the multi-gigabyte local engine. Instead the engine is fetched once, on first launch, and stored on your machine. Application updates ship separately and do not re-download the runtime. See Updates.

Before you start

  • Check the system requirements — AgentRidge runs a local reasoning engine and needs a reasonably capable machine and free disk space.
  • Have your authorization ready. AgentRidge is for authorized testing only; every mission requires a confirmed written mandate. See Authorized use.
  • You'll create a free account during setup, which starts you on the free trial.
