Install on Linux

AgentRidge ships for 64-bit (x64) Linux as an AppImage and a Debian package (.deb). Recommended: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or newer, or another modern Debian-based distribution, with 16 GB RAM and about 25 GB of free disk.

Option A · AppImage​

# make it executable
chmod +x AgentRidge-*-linux-x64.AppImage

# run it
./AgentRidge-*-linux-x64.AppImage

The AppImage is self-contained and runs on most modern distributions.

FUSE

If the AppImage doesn't start, your system may be missing FUSE. On Ubuntu: sudo apt install libfuse2. Alternatively, extract and run it: ./AgentRidge-*-linux-x64.AppImage --appimage-extract then run ./squashfs-root/AgentRidge.

Option B · Debian package​

# install
sudo apt install ./AgentRidge-*-linux-x64.deb

# launch from the applications menu, or:
AgentRidge

apt resolves the required system libraries automatically. The package adds a desktop entry so AgentRidge appears in your applications menu.

Dependencies​

The .deb declares the graphical and system libraries it needs (GTK, notification, NSS, X11 helpers, secret storage, audio, and graphics libraries). On a standard Ubuntu desktop these are already present; apt installs anything missing. If you install the AppImage on a minimal or server image, you may need to add a desktop/GTK stack yourself.

No separate permissions step​

As on Windows, Linux has no dedicated permissions step in setup. After the compatibility check, setup goes straight to your account and the runtime download.

Finish setup​

The account, engine, and runtime steps are the same on every platform — continue with First launch.

Data location & uninstalling​

On Linux, AgentRidge stores its data under ~/.config/AgentRidge (see Data locations).

  • AppImage: delete the .AppImage file. Remove ~/.config/AgentRidge to clear local data.
  • Debian package: sudo apt remove agentridge (add --purge to also remove configuration). Your user data directory can be removed separately.
