Install on Windows

AgentRidge ships for Windows as a 64-bit application. You can install it with the standard setup installer, or run the portable build without installing. Minimum supported version: Windows 10 build 17763 (1809); Windows 11 recommended.

Choose a build

BuildBest for
Setup installer (...-setup.exe)The normal choice — installs AgentRidge, creates Start-menu and desktop shortcuts, and enables updates.
Portable (...-portable.exe)Running from a folder or USB drive without a full install.

Download from the AgentRidge website.

Install with the setup installer

  1. Double-click the downloaded AgentRidge-...-setup.exe.
  2. Windows will prompt for administrator elevation — AgentRidge installs per-machine and needs elevation. Choose Yes.
  3. Pick the installation directory (you can accept the default), then continue.
  4. Let the installer finish. It creates desktop and Start-menu shortcuts.
  5. Launch AgentRidge from the Start menu or desktop.
Why administrator?

AgentRidge requests elevation because authorized pentest operations can require elevated privileges, and the app installs per-machine. This is expected behavior.

SmartScreen

On first launch Windows SmartScreen may show a notice for a newly downloaded app. If it does, click More info → Run anyway to continue.

Run the portable build

  1. Download AgentRidge-...-portable.exe.
  2. Place it in a folder you can write to (a local folder or a USB drive).
  3. Double-click to run. Accept the elevation prompt if shown.

The portable build keeps its data alongside the app rather than installing system-wide.

No separate permissions step

Unlike macOS, Windows does not have a dedicated permissions step in setup — the elevation you grant to the installer/app covers what AgentRidge needs. Setup goes straight from the compatibility check to your account and the runtime download.

Finish setup

The account, engine, and runtime steps are the same on every platform — continue with First launch.

Uninstalling

Use Settings → Apps → Installed apps → AgentRidge → Uninstall, or the Start-menu uninstaller. By default your local data is kept so a reinstall doesn't need to re-download the runtime; see Data locations to remove it manually.
